Last year, Jackson Walker successfully represented NRG Energy Inc., a Fortune 500 integrated power company, in the sublease of its new office space at 910 Louisiana in downtown Houston. At 431,037 square feet, the transaction is the largest commercial real estate sublease in the history of the city. In the 2018 Landmark Awards ceremony held on April 19, 2018, Houston Business Journal named NRG the winner in the Project Lease category.

“To take part in such a historical deal as the NRG Energy sublease is a proud accomplishment for myself and for our real estate group at Jackson Walker,” said Houston partner Patrick Sharkey, one of the attorneys who advised NRG in the transaction.

Every year, Houston Business Journal awards the top commercial real estate projects in Houston that encompass long-term sustainability and impact the city’s landscape. From a pool of 54 finalists, the 2018 Landmark Awards recognized the winners across 16 categories.

Projects were recognized for excellence in land planning, design, construction, economics, marketing and management. Entries were judged on potential impact for the greater Houston area, including job creation, innovation, best use of land, site plan, development of surrounding neighborhoods, visual plan, amenities, and being eco-friendly.
