As maintaining the old-fashioned white shoe status and the “bigger is better” mentality are no longer necessarily what makes a good law firm great, ATL set out to discover the firms that move today’s legal market, not yesterday’s. The Power 100 is found by blending objective data points with subjective feedback from the legal community.

Objective data points include the ratio of equity partners to other attorneys, changes in headcount, the percentage of women partners, and the percentage of new partners in the most recent promotion cycle.  The Law Firm Reputation Survey considers both the reputed strength and quality of a firm’s practice and the perceived desirability of the firm as a potential employer as seen by peers and competitors. Compensation and insider satisfaction per the ATL Insider Survey round out the scoring process.

“The Power 100 offers a different perspective on how Biglaw firms stack up against their competitors,” writes ATL’s Brian Dalton.
