Marcus Brooks Joins Jackson Walker’s Tax Practice

Jackson Walker is pleased to announce the addition of Marcus Brooks as a partner in the Tax practice group. Marcus focuses his practice on tax controversy and litigation, where he advises clients on complex tax matters and represents them in income and transfer tax disputes at the audit level, before the IRS Appeals Office, and in proceedings before the U.S. Tax Court, U.S. District Court, and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Marcus has served as lead counsel in high-stakes tax cases involving multimillion-dollar adjustments and has successfully represented clients in disputes with state and local taxing authorities. His practice also encompasses advising private and publicly held companies, investment funds, estates, and individuals on federal and state tax issues in connection with significant business transactions and compliance. Marcus’s experience includes navigating intricate matters such as partnership tax issues, corporate tax matters, international taxation, transfer pricing, and the state tax implications of multi-state business activities.

Beyond his legal practice, Marcus has served as an adjunct professor at Baylor University Law School, where he taught federal taxation of closely held business entities. He has also taught courses in federal tax research and procedure as part of Baylor’s Masters of Taxation Program.

Marcus received his BBA cum laude from Baylor University and earned his J.D., with Highest Honors from the University of Texas School of Law, where he was Vice Chancellor, a member of the Order of the Coif, and a member of the Texas Law Review.
