Jackson Walker Expands Trusts & Estates Group With Addition of Tara Potts

Jackson Walker is pleased to announce the addition of Tara A. Potts as a partner in the Trusts & Estates practice. Joining from a small transactional law firm in Austin, Tara concentrates her practice in the area of tax-exempt organizations.

“We are excited to add Tara to our team, as she provides extensive experience in all aspects of the representation of tax-exempt organizations,” said Sam K. Hildebrand, chair of the Trusts & Estates practice.

Tara has advised numerous organizations on a variety of nonprofit corporate and tax-related issues under Section 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code. She specializes in issues related to organization, qualification, combination, conversion, lobbying, political campaign activity, private inurement, excess benefit and unrelated business income. In addition, she has experience advising private foundations and institutions of higher education, religious organizations, governmental entities, social welfare organizations, trade associations, business leagues, title-holding companies and social clubs.

She obtained her B.S. from Miami University, her J.D. from Washington University School of Law, and her L.L.M. from New York University School of Law. She is a licensed attorney in Texas and Illinois as well as a Certified Public Accountant.
