Biography
Janie E. James focuses her practice primarily on securities law and mergers and acquisitions. She has considerable experience in representing publicly traded and privately held businesses as well as underwriters.
Janie’s experience includes representing clients in public and private offerings of equity and debt securities, SEC compliance matters, tender offers, stock and asset purchases, reorganizations and venture capital transactions. She also has significant experience in representing a variety of start-up as well as seasoned clients in general corporate matters, including complex contract negotiations.
In addition to her corporate experience, Janie has a background in litigation and has handled appeals in both state and federal courts, including the Supreme Court of Texas.

Client ResultsJackson Walker Represents NuStar Energy in $115 Million Refinery Sale
Jackson Walker successfully represented client NuStar Energy L.P. in the sale of its San Antonio refinery and related assets to Calumet Specialty Products Partners, L.P. for $100 million, plus closing date inventory of approximately $15 million. The deal closed on Jan. 2, 2013. The related assets included a terminal in Elmendorf, Texas, and a pipeline connecting the terminal and refinery.
