Frederick Sultan Joins Dual Leadership Roles in National and Texas Bar Organizations

November 6, 2025 | Attorney News

Jackson Walker proudly congratulates Senior Counsel Frederick Sultan on his appointment to two significant leadership positions that reflect his steadfast commitment to advancing inclusion, equity, and engagement within the legal profession.

Fred has been elected president of the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association, a nationwide network of legal professionals and affiliated organizations dedicated to promoting justice and equity for the diverse LGBTQ+ community through advocacy, education, and collaboration within the legal profession. In this role, Fred—together with the Board of Directors—will focus on cultivating a legal industry where LGBTQ+ individuals feel a strong sense of belonging, advocating for broader societal change through collaborative, education-driven initiatives, and addressing systemic oppression and biases both within and beyond the LGBTQ+ community and the profession.

In addition to his national leadership role, Fred has been appointed by State Bar of Texas President Santos Vargas to serve as Vice Chair of the Outreach and Engagement Committee. The committee’s mission is to develop and promote strategies and best practices for engaging the diverse membership of the State Bar of Texas. The committee will identify opportunities across the organization to foster an inclusive environment for attorneys from all backgrounds and regions of the state, establish measurable goals to guide this work, and report progress to the State Bar Board of Directors.

“It’s an honor to serve our community at both the national and state levels,” said Fred. “As President of the National LGBTQ+ Bar and Vice Chair of the State Bar of Texas Outreach and Engagement Committee, I’m committed to building bridges, expanding access, and ensuring that LGBTQ+ legal professionals—and all lawyers across Texas—feel a genuine sense of belonging. Working alongside dedicated colleagues, we will pursue measurable, sustained progress through advocacy, education, and collaboration.”

Fred’s appointments reflect both his long-standing service to the legal community and Jackson Walker’s commitment to building a profession in which attorneys can thrive as their authentic selves. We congratulate Fred on these important roles and look forward to the positive impact of his leadership at both the national and state levels.
