Jackson Walker partners Charles Babcock and Michael Pearson have been inducted into Lawdragon’s Hall of Fame.

Now in its 10th year, the Lawdragon Hall of Fame celebrates lauded attorneys who have significantly impacted the practice of law. Inductees are selected after decades of close observation, ensuring that each honoree’s work resonates far beyond a single case or matter.

Chip and Mike’s inclusion in the Lawdragon Hall of Fame not only highlights their exceptional careers, but also marks a major milestone for the firm, as they are the first Jackson Walker attorneys to be inducted.

Launched in 2005, Lawdragon is a legal media company that features news, editorial features, and a variety of guides to the nation’s top legal professionals who lead in a particular practice area or industry.

Meet Chip

Charles L. Babcock is a nationally recognized trial and appellate attorney focused on bet-the-company litigation, First Amendment litigation, commercial litigation, intellectual property litigation, government investigations, media litigation, and appellate litigation. Outside of his practice, Chip is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the American Law Institute, the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, the American Board of Trial Advocates, and the Litigation Counsel of America. He has also long served as a Research Fellow of CAIL and was elected as a trustee of CAIL in 2022. Over his career, Chip has received national acclaim among The Best Lawyers in America since 1991 and Chambers and Partners’ Chambers USA Guide since 2006. In addition to being named one of the “25 Greatest Texas Lawyers of the Past Quarter-Century” by Texas Lawyer in 2010, he earned the Ronald D. Secrest Outstanding Trial Lawyer Award from the Texas Bar Foundation in 2016 and the Karen H. Susman Jurisprudence Award by the Anti-Defamation League Southwest Region in 2018.

Meet Michael

Michael Pearson has practiced in oil, gas, and energy law since 1978, representing numerous Texas-based, national, and international energy companies and financial institutions in a broad range of transactional matters relating to the upstream, midstream, finance, and marketing sectors of the oil and gas industry. He chaired Jackson Walker’s Energy practice group for more than 30 years and currently serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at The University of Texas School of Law. Mike has been recognized among The Best Lawyers in America since 2005, including as the Houston Lawyer of the Year for Natural Resources Law in 2021 and 2024. He has also been named among Lawdragon’s list of the 500 Leading Energy Lawyers since 2023 and in Lexology’s Who’s Who Legal for Energy – Oil & Gas in 2024.
