Jackson Walker Attorneys Selected “Best Lawyers Under 40 In Dallas”

Jackson Walker partners Brad L. Whitlock and Jim M. McCown were both selected as “Best Lawyers Under 40 in Dallas” by D MagazineD Magazine recently surveyed 5,000 Dallas area attorneys to rank the top attorneys in town according to a jury of their peers. Brad Whitlock and Jim McCown were two of the 119 lawyers chosen for inclusion in “The Best Lawyers Under 40 in Dallas.”

Managing Partner Mike Wilson stated, “Mr. Whitlock and Mr. McCown have both shown exemplary skill in their law practice. The whole firm congratulates them for this well-deserved honor.”

Mr. Whitlock noted that even though he is honored by the “best lawyers” part, he is really excited about the “under 40” part.

Mr. Whitlock is a partner in the Business Transactions section at Jackson Walker. His practice primarily focuses on securities law including representation of both issuers and underwriters in public and private offerings of debit and equity securities, compliance work under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, drafting mergers and acquisitions law including stock and asset purchases and tender offers, general corporate work for high tech companies including license agreements and other contracts, protection of intellectual property rights, and drafting of stock option plans and other employee compensation matters. In addition to his law practice, he is involved in many bar and civic activities. Mr. Whitlock received his J.D. degree from the Southern Methodist University School of Law, where he was a member of the Journal of Air Law & Commerce and a Hatton W. Sumners Scholar. He received his B.A. degree from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri.

Mr. McCown is a partner in the Litigation section of Jackson Walker. He has broad experience in commercial, trade secrets, banking, real estate, securities, and accounting litigation and arbitration. Mr. McCown also specializes in First Amendment cases, including prior restraint issues, as well as products liability and personal injury defense. His experience in each of these areas has included appeals and all types of extraordinary remedies including injunctions, attachment, sequestration, and garnishment. Mr. McCown received his B.B.A. degree, with high honors, in Finance, from New Mexico State University and his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from Texas Tech University.
