Jackson Walker congratulates Carey L. Hain and Lauren Hunsaker on their 2023-2024 elections to leadership positions within the Houston Bar Association’s Real Estate Law Section. Carey will serve as Chair-Elect and Lauren will serve as a Council Member. Carey previously served as Secretary and Treasurer of the HBA Real Estate Law Section.

Established in 1870, the Association was founded to maintain high standards in the legal profession and provide legal education for Harris County attorneys. Today, the HBA, one of the largest metropolitan bar associations in the nation, has expanded its goals to include public service and better access to legal services for all citizens in the Greater Houston area.

The Real Estate Section participates in and contributes to several community-based fundraising campaigns including Habitat for Humanity, Texas C-Bar, and Historic Records Preservation. Monetary scholarships are awarded to a student at each of Houston’s law schools.

Meet Carey

Carey L. Hain assists clients with complex commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, financing, development and commercial leasing. Carey represents owners of office buildings, large mixed-use projects, multi-family developments and property undergoing varying stages of development, from initial development of raw land to redevelopment of under-utilized areas or existing assets. She also regularly represents borrowers and lenders in commercial financing transactions. In recognition of her practice, Carey has been named to Thomson Reuters’ Super Lawyers since 2020.

Meet Lauren

Lauren Hunsaker’s practice is focused on complex commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, development, leasing, and pipeline installation for privately owned and publicly traded companies. Lauren represents real estate investment and development companies in large-scale acquisitions for commercial, multi-family, and mixed-use development. Lauren also represents developers of master planned communities, assisting clients from acquisition of the raw land through development and final disposition of the asset.
