Jackson Walker is pleased to announce that William H. Hornberger was honored at the 2022 Financial Executive Awards for his commitment to community service. Presented by D CEO, the Awards recognized top corporate financial executives in Dallas-Fort Worth at On The Levee in downtown Dallas on Tuesday, April 26, 2022.
In the announcement regarding the winners of the Financial Executive Awards, D CEO wrote:
Attorney William H. Hornberger of Jackson Walker is one of the most deeply networked professionals in DFW. But his influence doesn’t end there; his commitment to public service has taken him around the globe. Locally, he has had a profound impact on organizations that span from the Texas Society of CPAs and FEI to Klyde Warren Park and the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum. “In everything I do, I try to lead by serving others,” Hornberger says.

As the grandson of Mexican immigrants who came to America with nothing, Willie feels a tremendous amount of responsibility to give back to the underserved Latino population in North Texas. Driven by this desire to help others, he has served on the board of AVANCE-North Texas and founded its annual Latino Street Fest in 2014. He emceed the recent 2022 Street Fest which drew thousands of people to Klyde Warren Park in downtown Dallas.
Beyond his service to the Latino community, Willie is a founding sponsor of D CEO’s Oil & Gas Awards, which recognizes leaders in oil, natural gas, and renewable energy in North Texas. He is a former Chair and a present director of the 28,000-member Texas Society of CPAs, and is the Outside General Counsel of the Dallas Chapter of Financial Executives International, the principal trade association for Chief Financial Officers in the Greater Dallas area. Previously, Willie served as General Counsel to the Klyde Warren Park Foundation during the critical development phase of the Park. He has also served as a director of The Real Estate Council Foundation of Dallas and The Covenant School.
In his practice, Willie focuses on tax, transactional, international, and corporate matters. His tax practice has touched nearly every area of the tax law, including corporate, partnerships and LLCs, international, real estate, corporate, oil and gas, bankruptcy, and tax credit, controversy, and procedural matters. His broad transactional practice includes mergers and acquisitions, complex partnership, joint venture, real estate and private equity arrangements, complicated cross-border business structuring matters involving investors from multiple countries, Tax Treaty, and IRS Competent Authority matters.
In 2017, Willie received the Meritorious Service Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants for his contributions to the Society. He has also been recognized among The Best Lawyers in America for Tax Law every year since 2003, including as the Lawyer of the Year in Dallas/Fort Worth in 2013, and the “Best Lawyers in Dallas” by D Magazine. In recognition of his commitment to service, Willie was recognized with the Amigo de MĂ©xico Award from AEM DFW (2018), Distinguished Public Service Award from the Texas Society of CPAs (2019), and the North Texas Inspirational Leadership Award from AVANCE-North Texas (2019).
