HOUSTON, Texas — Jackson Walker is pleased to announce the completed renovation of its Houston office at 5 Houston Center, 1401 McKinney Street. The newly renovated space occupies three floors, the 18th, 19th, and 20th, accommodating more than 200 employees.
“At its core, this renovation is about our people,” said S. Priya Coffey, Houston Managing Partner. “Every design decision was guided by a single purpose: creating an environment where our team feels energized, present, and connected to one another, all while honoring Jackson Walker’s proud Texas heritage and celebrating everything that makes Houston unique.”
The renovation was a collaborative effort from its earliest stages. In May 2024, a diverse group of Jackson Walker Houston attorneys and business professionals were invited to several visioning sessions led by Gensler, the project’s architect and design partner. These sessions sparked important discussions about the future of the firm’s Houston workplace, with participants assessing challenges and opportunities within the existing space, identifying goals and priorities, and shaping recommendations to guide the reimagined environment.
The result is a forward-thinking design that draws inspiration from the region and is infused with natural light and rich color. The renovated space features floor-to-ceiling windows, versatile collaborative areas, and dedicated workspace for every employee, including 128 uniformly sized perimeter offices, 37 interior offices, and 14 conference rooms. “The space was designed to create a purpose-driven and inviting atmosphere for lawyers, business professionals, and clients, one that truly reflects the spirit of Houston,” Priya added.
Many features of the new space extend the Jackson Walker brand in ways that engage, inspire, and connect the firm’s people with the broader Houston community. Conference rooms are named after Johnson Space Center programs, Houston neighborhoods, and the city’s beloved sports teams. The art that adorns the interior walls throughout the office was curated by a team of Jackson Walker’s own attorneys, who thoughtfully selected pieces by local Houston artists. “Every detail was chosen to embody the culture of Jackson Walker and to ensure that our people and clients feel welcomed the moment they walk through our doors,” Priya said.
Guests are initially greeted on the 19th floor, the location of the reception area and home to the largest conference room, which features two skyfold walls and a NanaWall system that, when fully opened, creates up to 5,500 square feet of flexible event and meeting space. The room offers both high-top and low-top table configurations and can be arranged for table-style or theater-style seating. A beautifully designed interior staircase, leading to the 20th floor, is highlighted by a specialty lighting element that reinforces the open, connected feel of the environment. On the 18th floor exists another unique space for gathering and entertaining, which boasts expansive views of downtown, ample lounge seating, multiple large-screen TV monitors, and a pool table. Jackson Walker attorneys and clients also have the ability to conduct highly confidential meetings in the office’s two “hidden” conference rooms, accessible only through concealed doors.
Technology is seamlessly integrated throughout the new space. Every conference room and meeting room is equipped with upgraded conferencing technology, including instant meeting capability and interactive displays. The office will also house “The Bridge,” a purpose-built video conferencing center designed for online hearings, arbitrations, mediations, and other proceedings.
