On July 22, 2014, Fort Worth-based ENXP announced that it had closed the acquisition of 18,300 acres in Houston and Madison counties from TreadStone Energy Partners, LLC. ENXP is an independent exploration and production company focused on the acquisition, exploration, and development of unconventional oil and gas resources. The TreadStone purchase will complement ENXP's current East Texas portfolio. The transaction included concurrent closing of $375 million in convertible subordinated notes in a private placement, and a new $775 million senior secured term loan. The deal was highlighted in Texas Lawyer's July 31 edition. ENXP was represented in the acquisition by Jackson Walker attorneys Mike Pearson, Nathan Smithson, and Anna R. Irion. The successful transaction demonstrates the depth of experience of Jackson Walker's Energy practice group, which has been a leader in energy law for more than 100 years.
