As parents of the children killed at Sandy Hook in December 2012 bring claims of defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress against Alex Jones and InfoWars, Jackson Walker client Amos Pictures was granted permission by the 459th District Court in Travis County to broadcast portions of the proceedings in an upcoming documentary.
Financed by HBO and scheduled to air in 2023, the 90-minute documentary will record and broadcast the proceedings from five separate lawsuits filed against Alex Jones and InfoWars, which were all specially assigned in March 2021 to the Honorable Judge Maya Guerra Gamble of the 459th District Court.
On behalf of Amos Pictures, Jackson Walker attorneys Chip Babcock, Joshua Romero, and Scott Weatherford filed a request with the trial court and argued the motion. In its July 16, 2021, decision, the Court granted the request, noting that the recording and broadcast of the proceedings would promote public access and exposure to the court system in general and the issues in the lawsuit in particular.
Amos Pictures is a London-based production house that works mainly for HBO, the BBC, and Channel Four, a UK-based public service broadcaster. In 2019, Amos won a Primetime Emmy for Leaving Neverland, HBO’s most-watched-ever documentary.
