Cirrus Logic Rises in IPO’s “Patent 300” List of the World’s Leading Innovators

Cirrus Logic, a leader in low-power, high-precision mixed-signal processing solutions, has been listed among the top 300 U.S.-issued patent assignees for 2023 by the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO). This is the fourth time the company was included in the annual list of innovators.

A Jackson Walker team led by Brian K. Prewitt and including Temple KellerPaige Welch, Andrea Thai, and Tori Emery assisted in obtaining 150 of Cirrus Logic’s 169 patents issued in 2023. In fact, since 2012, the team has had a hand in helping Cirrus Logic secure 852 granted U.S. patents and 368 foreign patents.

The “Patent 300” list, produced by IPO in collaboration with Harrity Patent Analytics, has been published for over 40 years using data obtained from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Cirrus Logic has ranked among this list in 20202021, 2023, and now 2024.

Brian K. Prewitt advises leading global technology companies in connection with patent preparation and prosecution, patent litigation, and providing advice and counseling regarding patents, trademarks, and copyrights. Primarily focused on patent preparation and prosecution, Brian has authored over 1,000 patent applications and has managed the prosecution of over 2,500 patent applications. With over 18 years of intellectual property law experience and industry expertise in the areas of integrated circuit design, semiconductor manufacturing technology, computer architecture, and computer systems, Brian possesses both the legal and technical talents necessary for providing top-notch legal representation to leading technology companies worldwide, including Cirrus Logic and Dell Inc.

Temple Keller is an intellectual property attorney who focuses on patents and trademarks. His practice includes the prosecution of domestic, PCT, and foreign patent applications in a wide variety of technical areas, including computer software and hardware, telecommunications, semiconductors, and optical systems. In addition, he analyzes patent portfolios for licensing, conducts due diligence analysis, counsels clients regarding intellectual property strategy, and prepares non-infringement and invalidity opinions. His work ranges from Fortune 50 companies to local startups to individual inventors.

Paige Welch is an associate in the Intellectual Property practice of Jackson Walker’s Austin office. She was a summer associate at the firm in 2021 and 2022. She has been admitted to the State Bar of Texas and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and is a member of The Honorable Lee Yeakel IP Inn of Court. Paige obtained her B.S. and M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and her J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law.

Andrea Thai is an associate in Jackson Walker’s Austin office whose practice focuses on corporate and securities and intellectual property matters. She was a summer associate and case clerk at the firm in 2019 and 2020. Andrea obtained her B.S. in Biomedical Engineering and her J.D. from the University of Texas.

Tori Emery is an associate in the Trial & Appellate Litigation practice of Jackson Walker’s Houston office. Her areas of practice include complex commercial disputes, intellectual property, energy and natural resources, and media and entertainment. Tori obtained her B.S. in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from the University of Arkansas and her J.D. from Baylor University School of Law. While in law school, she also served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Alan D. Albright of the Western District of Texas, Waco Division.
