Jackson Walker Obtains Jury Trial Victory for Midland Hospital in Title VII Lawsuit

March 5, 2021 | Client Results

Jackson Walker attorneys Sarah Mitchell Montgomery, Jon Mark Hogg, and Judy Bennett Garner successfully defended Midland Memorial Hospital in a sexual harassment and retaliation case brought by a former employee.

Midland Memorial terminated the plaintiff in 2018. Following her termination, the plaintiff filed an employment discrimination action against Midland Memorial, asserting claims of sexual harassment and retaliation pursuant to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 42 U.S.C. § 2000e et seq. On January 24, 2021, summary judgment was granted to Midland Memorial on the sexual harassment claim.

The retaliation claim was tried to a jury in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas – Midland/Odessa Division. After about an hour of deliberation, the jury returned a verdict of a complete victory for Jackson Walker’s client.
