William Hornberger, Wayne Malecha, and David Moran Included in “Dallas 500” List

Jackson Walker partners William Hornberger, Wayne Malecha, and David Moran have been recognized as top business leaders by D CEO magazine in its inaugural edition of the “Dallas 500.” This prestigious power list includes the 500 most influential business men and women in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Editors at D CEO spent more than a year researching business leaders to include, scouring several different data sources and interviewing industry experts, observers, and analysts. Leaders in the guide are separated into industry groups, with most groups including only six to 12 individuals. The stated goal of the Dallas 500 list is “to provide a personal, up-close look at the people driving economic growth in Dallas-Fort Worth.”

Willie Hornberger was listed in the Tax Law category. D CEO states, “Willie Hornberger solves problems. The partner in the tax and international sections of Jackson Walker helps businesses find the right structures for acquisitions, partnerships, and other transactions, while avoiding unnecessary taxes.” The article also mentions that Willie is “one of the most connected attorneys in town” and that he takes his work “very personally”.

Wayne Malecha, making the list for Real Estate Law, “has earned a reputation for getting deals done” according to D CEO. “He has particular [experience] in commercial leasing, having negotiated numerous office, retail, industrial, and medical transactions. He also has considerable experience handling the buying and selling of real estate assets.”

David Moran was listed for Law-Managing Partners. D CEO states, “David Moran has represented some of the biggest names in business, like Google, and entertainment, helping Oprah Winfrey in the infamous ‘mad cow disease’ case and Fox Entertainment in a defamation case involving Bill O’Reilly’s show. A trial lawyer with nearly 30 years of experience, David is managing partner of the firm’s Dallas office.”

Willie practices in the Tax and International sections of Jackson Walker. His tax practice emphasizes transactional and international tax matters and tax controversy issues. He is also a Certified Public Accountant. Willie received both his B.B.A. degree, with high honors, and his J.D. degree, with honors, from the University of Texas, and he received his LL.M. in Taxation from New York University. He is fluent in Spanish.

Wayne represents national, regional and local clients in a wide range of real estate and other business transactions. His clients particularly appreciate his ability to offer creative solutions to resolve issues that arise and his overall commitment to getting the deal done. Wayne received his J.D. degree from the University of Notre Dame, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Legislation and received the William T. Kirby Award for Excellence in Legal Writing. His legal education included participation in the Concannon Program of International Law at the Notre Dame Law Centre in London, England. Wayne received his B.A. degree, cum laude, in Economics and Mathematics from St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin.

David is a trial lawyer with 30 years’ experience in the courtroom and a track record of achieving results for clients. His national practice is wide ranging, including business, tort, antitrust, aviation, class action, defamation, securities, insurance, and intellectual property. Additionally, David regularly handles appeals. He is also the managing partner of the firm’s Dallas office. David received his B.B.A. degree, with honors, and his J.D. degree, with honors, from the University of Texas at Austin.
