Biography

Beau Butler is an attorney in the Bankruptcy, Restructuring & Recovery practice at Jackson Walker’s Austin office. Beau regularly represents debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, landlords in various out of court workouts, trade vendors in both in-court and out-of-court restructurings, including Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Subchapter V matters across multiple jurisdictions.  While Beau primarily practices in Texas, he regularly appears in bankruptcy cases across the country.

Beau’s practice spans the full lifecycle of restructuring and insolvency matters, from plan drafting and confirmation, DIP financing, preference and avoidance actions, adversary proceedings, and relief from stay litigation.

Beau advises clients on loan workouts, personal guaranty workouts, creditors’ rights enforcement, and commercial lease issues involving distressed tenants—including assumption and rejection disputes, rejection damages, and defense of preference claims. Beau has considerable experience with regard to merchant cash advance (MCA) agreements.

Before joining Jackson Walker, Beau served as judicial intern for U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Tony M. Davis of the Western District of Texas. He also clerked for the Financial Litigation Division of the Texas Attorney General’s Office.
