Biography
Juan Alcala is a seasoned trial attorney whose practice concentrates on international arbitration and cross-border litigation, with a particular focus on disputes connected to Latin America. His practice is defined by extensive experience navigating complex procedural, discovery, and jurisdictional issues that frequently arise in transnational matters. With a deep understanding of dispute resolution, fluency in Spanish, and a strong cultural affinity to Latin America, Juan represents clients with matters in international tribunals, foreign courts, and U.S. courts.
In addition to his international work, Juan has robust domestic litigation experience, including significant trial and appellate experience in several dozen high-exposure cases.
With experience across industries including the energy, financial, real estate, automotive, medical device, and manufacturing sectors, Juan’s practice covers a wide array of complex issues, such as business torts, partnership disputes, intricate lending transactions, fiduciary duty claims, copyright and trademark litigation, misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of contract matters, and product defects.
Juan serves as an adjunct professor at Baylor Law School, where he teaches a course on International Transactions and Disputes. He previously served as chair of the International Law Section of the State Bar of Texas and as regional president of the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA).
