Houston partner Kathleen Tanner Beduze will present a webinar today to Texas Guardianship Association members regarding the chapter she authored for the Texas Guardianship Manual, entitled “Temporary Guardianships and Other Emergency Relief.” The program addresses the topics of temporary and permanent guardianships, qualification, a guardian’s roles and duties, how to avoid a guardianship, and other emergency relief, including injunctive relief and mental health commitments.
With the year 2034 marking the first time in U.S. history that people aged 65 or older will outnumber children, and the dramatic rise of individuals over 65 living with Alzheimer’s disease, Kathleen notes that it is critical to plan ahead and have conversations with loved ones about what individuals want to happen in the event they are incapable of making decisions for themselves.
