Jamila Brinson and Nick Diamond to Speak at the 36th Annual Texas Health Law Conference

Jackson Walker partners Jamila M. Brinson and Nicholas “Nick” Diamond are scheduled to present during the 36th annual Texas Health Law Conference (THLC), presented by the Health Law Section of the State Bar of Texas at the AT&T Hotel and Conference Center in Austin, Texas, on October 9-10, 2023.

Jamila Brinson will join a panel discussion addressing the topic of non-competes in light of the Federal Trade Commission’s proposed rule that effectively bans employers from using them. They will also delve into the complex landscape of state legislation surrounding this issue, aiming to help employers navigate the evolving legal environment.

Meanwhile, Nick Diamond and his co-speaker will deliver a practical overview of U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) law, covering the FDA’s organizational structure, its regulatory scope, and its enforcement activities. This session will offer valuable insights into how FDA-related issues can manifest in various healthcare practice settings.

Meet Our Speakers

Jamila M. Brinson is a labor and employment and litigation attorney who partners with employers and management to proactively shape their workplaces and resolve issues when they arise. Whether handling labor and employment disputes, commercial disputes, or media, trademark, and copyright litigation, Jamila listens to her clients and creates legal strategies to obtain the best possible result. She also serves as Chair of Jackson Walker’s Diversity & Inclusion Counseling group. In recognition of her practice, Jamila has been named to Thomson Reuters’ Super Lawyers – Rising Stars list (2019-2021) and Lawdragon’s list of the 500 leading U.S. corporate employment lawyers (2020-2023). She is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Nicholas “Nick” Diamond is a regulatory lawyer with extensive, international experience counseling clients across the food, healthcare, life sciences, medical device, and technology sectors. While his practice primarily focuses on compliance counseling, he also has experience in global policy advocacy, commercial transactions, enforcement actions and investigations, and ethics and governance.

In the United States, Nick provides comprehensive counsel for entities and products regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). He has experience counseling clients on matters falling under FDA’s jurisdiction, such as: animal and veterinary products, including animal drugs and drug compounding; cosmetics; food (both human and animal), beverage, and dietary supplements; human pharmaceuticals and biotechnology products, spanning all therapeutic areas; medical devices (especially software-as-a-medical-device) and diagnostics; and vaccines. He also provides compliance counsel on federal laws impacting other healthcare-related entities, including clinical laboratories, clinical research institutions, digital health companies, and healthcare providers (including pharmacies).
