Katherine Staton Named a 2014 Winning Woman by ‘Texas Lawyer’

Jackson Walker partner Katherine Staton was recently named a 2014 “Winning Woman” by Texas Lawyer. Ms. Staton and her fellow award winners will be profiled in the September 1, 2014, edition of Texas Lawyer.

Founded in 2011, Texas Lawyer‘s “Winning Women” Award honors lawyers who have achieved significant recent victories and established a track record of prevailing in high–stakes cases; won large monetary awards; successfully defended against actions seeking substantial damages; handled first–of–their–kind cases; made a substantial changes to the practice of law; or claimed victory in cases that had a national or statewide impact. Ms. Staton and her fellow 19 winners will be honored at a luncheon on October 8, 2014, in Dallas, Texas.

Ms. Staton has over 24 years of experience in litigation, serving large and small clients and companies in Texas and nationally. She has a unique legal and financial background, as she is a CPA and represented plaintiffs before joining Jackson Walker. Ms. Staton has expertise in aviation-related cases. She serves as lead counsel for airlines, fixed-based operators, and insurance companies, managing and trying a variety of cases and disputes not only in Texas, but nationwide. She also serves as outside general counsel to clients. Additionally, Ms. Staton handles coverage issues and advises clients concerning potential coverage under policies before and after claims or losses. She received her B.B.A. degree, cum laude, in Accounting from St. Mary’s University of San Antonio, and her J.D. degree from Southern Methodist University.
