William Nilson Selected to Participate in Real Estate Council of Austin Leadership Development Council

Jackson Walker is pleased to announce that William Austin Nilson has been selected to participate in the 2024 Real Estate Council of Austin’s (RECA) Leadership Development Council. William will join an exclusive group of 18 individuals under the age of 36 who are in the real estate sector.

The Leadership Development Council (LDC), a year-long initiative by RECA, is designed to foster leadership skills. RECA’s primary goal is to nurture the next generation of leaders, ensuring a diverse group of real estate professionals with extensive knowledge of Austin and its surrounding communities. LDC participants will engage in an orientation and overnight retreat, lunch and learns, attend select Planning Commission and City Council meetings with RECA Policy & Advocacy staff, take part in a mentor program, contribute to a special fundraising or other project for RECA’s annual Christmas in October philanthropy event, and attend various RECA events.

William joins an ever-growing list of Jackson Walker attorneys who have participated in RECA’s LDC program, most recently including David J.B. Zolno (2023) and Brett A. Reamer (2022).

Meet William

William Austin Nilson’s practice is focused on assisting lenders, buyers, sellers, developers, investors, owners, managers, and others in the acquisition, disposition, investment, leasing, and management of commercial property. William, a 2023 Super Lawyers Rising Star, has broad, vertical experience handling commercial real estate matters, from managing single-parcel closings to leading closing and due diligence components on national real asset portfolio transactions. He has authored comprehensive title, survey, and due diligence reports and schedules of critical contingencies, including reports on layered development agreements and environmental restrictions for clients in a myriad of commercial property transactions. William’s horizontal experience extends across many different industries, including industrial, farm, energy, homebuilding, retail, multifamily, and mixed-use projects, to name a few. William regularly works with property owners, developers, and governmental authorities to protect use rights, future dispositions, and finance options for commercial properties.
