Biography
Amanda L. Van Deusen, CPL, is a Certified Professional Landman and Title Analyst in Jackson Walker LLP’s Houston office. She brings more than 21 years of experience in land, title, and transactional matters, with a practice focused on advanced title research, acquisition and divestiture due diligence, energy reserve financing, upstream and midstream asset evaluation, and complex real estate transactions.
Her experience includes title examination, real property ownership analysis, reserve well evaluation, contract and lien review, document preparation, and multi-jurisdictional filing projects across the energy, real estate, data center, and renewable energy sectors. Amanda has led due diligence efforts for significant credit facilities and acquisitions involving exploration and production companies, non-operators, and other clients in both domestic and international transactions.
Amanda also has substantial experience handling bankruptcy-related asset matters, trust and estate issues, and infrastructure-related projects, including data center and water developments. Before joining Jackson Walker, she served as a Professional Landman at an international corporate law firm and held senior landman positions with multiple energy and land management companies.
In addition to her client work, Amanda has demonstrated long-standing leadership within the land profession. She has been an active member of the Houston Association of Professional Landmen since 2008 and has served on its Board of Directors since 2016, including as President, and other various Officer and Director roles. She also currently serves on the Board of Directors for HAPL Charities since its inception in 2024, where she continues to help advance the organization’s charitable mission as the current President of HAPL Charities.
Amanda has chaired the HAPL Technical Workshop & Webinar Committee since 2016, helping develop educational programming and professional development opportunities for land professionals and attorneys across the country. Her professional affiliations include the American Association of Professional Landmen, the North Houston Association of Professional Landmen, and Women’s Energy Network – Houston. Amanda will be serving AAPL on the committee for the upcoming 2027-2029 AAPL Annual Meetings.
Her industry leadership has been recognized with the AAPL Special Award (Education) in 2018 and 2021 and the HAPL “Above and Beyond” Award in 2015. Amanda has also authored a number of industry articles focused on leadership, professionalism, service, and the advancement of women within the land profession. During her presidency, HAPL received several honors from AAPL, including Local Association of the Year and Largest Percentage of AAPL Members.
Amanda holds a Bachelor of Arts from Austin College and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Houston Law Center.
