Biography

Argyrios Saccopoulos (“Argy” to his friends) is an attorney in Jackson Walker’s tax group. His practice focuses on the tax aspects of investment structures and business transactions, including especially private fund formations.

As part of his funds formation tax practice, Argy helps clients achieve tax and business objectives through structures that include partnership allocations, “blockers,” “splitters,” “parallel funds,” “feeders,” debt financings, captive real estate investment trusts, Delaware statutory trusts, qualified opportunity funds, and other artful techniques.

As part of his transactional tax work, Argy serves as a federal tax specialist on M&A and joint venture deal teams, aiding in the structuring of transactions and in the drafting and negotiation of merger agreements and of agreements to buy and sell equity, business assets, and real estate.

Argy also helps clients endeavoring to attract tax equity financing, including through the newly expanded Section 45Q tax credits.

In law school, Argyrios was an Articles Editor for the Texas Journal on Civil Liberties and Civil Rights and interned with the American Civil Liberties Union of Texas, where he focused on issues of protecting religious freedom in public schools.

Prior to joining Jackson Walker, Argyrios worked for a major law firm in Boston, Massachusetts, where he developed his tax practice and helped teach the tax portion of workshops for small business owners and community development lenders.
