Brad Brown and Katherine Staton Receive Board Certification in Aviation Law; Christopher Thompson in Insurance Law

Jackson Walker proudly congratulates Dallas attorneys Brad Brown, Katherine A. Staton, and Christopher A. Thompson for obtaining Board Certification from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization (TBLS). Brad and Katherine are now Board Certified in Aviation Law, and Chris is Board Certified in Insurance Law. This marks the first year that attorneys can obtain certification in these areas.

To obtain certification, attorneys need a minimum of five years of active State Bar of Texas membership; at least three years of experience in area of expertise with an annual practice focus of at least 30% in these areas; references from reputable judges and attorneys in the area; completion of 60 hours of TBLS-approved CLE in the respective fields; adherence to TBLS Standards for Attorney Certification; and successful completion of a comprehensive six-hour examination covering various topics and issues in their specialized practice area.

Meet Brad

Brad Brown focuses on aviation, products liability, insurance, and business-related matters. He regularly defends domestic and international manufacturers, airlines, insurers, business entities, cargo companies, ground handlers, and individuals in state and federal courts. Meet Katherine

Katherine A. Staton has over 33 years of aviation experience, serving individuals, large and small aviation businesses, and corporate clients, and companies in Texas and nationally. Katherine has a unique legal, financial, and practical background—she is a CPA and brings her diverse aviation experience to help clients with purchasing, selling, operating, and addressing Federal Aviation Regulation and state tax issues associated with aircraft ownership and operations. She also uses her transactional experience in identifying, analyzing, and addressing financial issues in legal and litigation matters, and she uses her litigation experience in helping clients with misconduct claims. In recognition of her practice, Katherine has been named among Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and The Best Lawyers in America.

Meet Chris

Christopher A. Thompson has litigated and counseled clients facing insurance disputes from coverage matters to bad faith cases to class actions, as well as claims coverage issues involving commercial general and excess liability, claims made under workers compensation, director and officer liability, residential and commercial property, and auto liability policies. Speaking “insurance” is a skill Chris has developed over his 26-year legal practice, as well as his prior career as an insurance adjuster.
