Nate St. Clair Joins National Sports Law Institute’s Board of Advisors

Jackson Walker is pleased to announce Nathaniel St. Clair, II has been invited to serve on the Board of Advisors of the National Sports Law Institute.

Founded in 1989 as an affiliate of Marquette University’s Sports Law program, the National Sports Law Institute (NSLI) provides a national forum for discussion and consideration of American and international sports issues and encourages input by persons and organizations with a wide range of viewpoints. In addition to sponsoring national conferences and symposia, the NSLI publishes thoughtful scholarship in the Marquette Sports Law Review, the first U.S. scholarly publication to focus on legal, ethical, and business issues related to professional and amateur athletics.

As a member of the Board of Advisors, Nate joins a group of sports lawyers, industry professionals, and sports law educators whose primary duties are to:

  1. contribute to the advancement of knowledge regarding legal, ethical, and business issues affecting the sports industries;
  2. provide guidance on matters affecting Marquette University Law School’s Sports Law Program;
  3. attend NSLI events and participate in the NSLI’s governance; and
  4. assume other duties and responsibilities (including service on committees) that further the NSLI’s best interests.

Nathaniel "Nate" St. Clair IINate received his J.D. from Marquette University Law School in 2004. He continues to serve his law school alma mater as a member of the NSLI Diversity & Recruiting Committee and as a speaker at events, including the 30th annual conference last year.

An intellectual property litigator and counselor, Nate focuses his practice on patent litigation and patent portfolio licensing and management. Prior to practicing law, he worked as a patent engineer/agent for GE Healthcare for several years and as a law clerk for the General Counsel and Vice President of the Milwaukee Bucks NBA Franchise. Nate has been recognized among D Magazine’s 2018 “Best Lawyers Under 40” and 2018-19 “Best Lawyers in Dallas” lists and Dallas Business Journal’s 2016 “40 Under 40” class.

Outside of his practice, Nate serves on Jackson Walker’s Mentorship, Diversity & Inclusion, and Business Development committees. He also volunteers his time as a Board Member and Vice Chairman of Impact Church DFW, a Board Member of St. Philip’s School and Community Center, and a Jr. Board Member of the Lone Star Chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters.
