Biography

Born and raised in Germany, Manny Schoenhuber works closely with European investors, companies, and their subsidiaries in Texas. His practice is focused on helping his European clients with market entry, contract negotiations and drafting, litigation, and dispute resolution. His goal is to help his European clients grow their business in the United States and to build a long-term relationship as their lawyer and trusted advisor.

A Trusted Advisor

As a U.S.-educated and Texas-based attorney with European roots, Manny understands the cultural, societal, and organizational similarities as well as differences between Europe and the United States. With this knowledge, he helps guide clients through the U.S. legal landscape and all its “common law peculiarities” that are still “uncommon” to most Europeans. To date, he has supported companies and investors from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Denmark, Poland, England, Italy, and Spain.

A Team-Focused Approach

“Great things in business are never done by one person; they’re done by a team of people.”
– Steve Jobs

A former professional soccer goalkeeper and collegiate athlete, Manny understands that the strength of the team is each individual member and that the strength of each member is the team. His goal is to assemble the right legal team and to connect his clients with the right business partners for their U.S. ventures.

A “Transatlanticist”

A passionate “Transatlanticist,” Manny frequently travels to Europe to foster transatlantic cooperation, to strengthen the EU-US partnership, to attract European business and investment to the U.S., and to enjoy the beauty of his continent of origin.

Outside of his practice, Manny is an active member of the American Council on Germany (ACG), the German-American Chamber of Commerce of the Southern U.S. (GACC South), the German-American Lawyers’ Association (DAJV), and the Danish American Chamber of Commerce Southwest (DACCSW). He serves as a Board Member of the European American Chamber of Commerce Texas. Manny is also a member of the Greater Houston Partnership’s Foreign Direct Investment Committee and a participant in the Globalaw Leadership Program.

Prior to private practice, Manny served as a judicial intern to Justice Laura Carter Higley of the First Court of Appeals, the Honorable Melinda Harmon of the Southern District of Texas, and the Honorable Charley E. Prine, Jr. of the Texas 246th District Court.

Supply Chain Due Diligence Requirements for Certain Companies Doing Business in Germany Soon to Go Into Effect

By Nicholas J. Diamond & Manny Schoenhuber | On January 1, 2023, the so-called Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (Lieferkettensorgfaltspflichtengesetz) (the “Act”) will go into effect in Germany. Many companies doing business in Germany will need to ready their compliance operations in the coming months. The Act is also part of a broader trend in the European Union (EU) towards establishing mandatory human rights and environmental due diligence requirements, particularly for supply chain operations.
