Meredith Silliman is an attorney in Jackson Walker’s Austin office with a practice focused on executive compensation, employee benefits, and ERISA, including assisting clients with the design, drafting, implementation, and ongoing administration of qualified and nonqualified retirement plans, health and welfare plans, bonus and equity compensation plans, and other executive-level compensation arrangements.
Meredith regularly supports public and privately held companies throughout the United States in negotiating contracts with service providers to employee benefit plans; employment agreements, severance agreements, change-in-control-agreements and other similar arrangements with incoming, existing, and departing executives; and the employee benefit aspects of mergers and acquisitions, including conducting due diligence and assisting with integrating, restructuring, and consolidating benefit plans and arrangements following a corporate transaction.
Meredith also assists clients in connection with internal and external audits of their employee benefit plans. She is experienced in detecting and correcting tax-qualified retirement plan failures under the Internal Revenue Service’s Employee Plans Compliance Resolutions System and the Department of Labor’s Voluntary Fiduciary Correction Program.
Meredith advises clients on issues related to reporting and disclosure requirements under ERISA, including drafting and reviewing plan documents and required notices. In addition, she provides guidance on complying with the Affordable Care Act, COBRA, HIPAA, GINA, mental health parity and other nondiscrimination rules, and the Internal Revenue Code, including Sections 280G and 409A.
