Biography
Travis Wussow is a regulatory and Government Affairs lawyer with extensive experience solving complex regulatory and public policy problems. As an advisor and advocate, Travis assists clients in navigating and shaping their regulatory landscape, helping them maintain compliance while advancing their broader strategic goals.
While Travis primarily serves clients in the energy industry, his extensive public policy experience spans healthcare, technology, education, constitutional law, and international human rights. This diverse background allows him to bring a unique perspective to his practice. Having worked in private practice, as in-house counsel, and as a senior operational executive, Travis deeply understands the needs of and challenges faced by his clients.
Prior to rejoining Jackson Walker, Travis led the strategy development capability for a major philanthropic community in Washington, DC, overseeing hundreds of millions of dollars in activities across all major issue verticals.
Travis is also a constitutional and human rights lawyer. After beginning his career at Jackson Walker, Travis worked in the non-governmental organization sector, where he worked on freedom of speech and freedom of religion and belief in both U.S. and international contexts.

- Serve as Special Assistant Attorney General (SAAG) counsel for state involved in multiple Administrative Procedure Act challenges to new federal regulations.
- Led development of multifaceted strategy for major Supreme Court case, including public affairs, coalition engagement, and post-decision strategy.
- Served as in-house counsel for dozens of amicus brief engagements, which included leading on legal and public relations issues.
- Led strategy development and operations for a 501(c)(3) policy grantmaking entity, responsible for $120 million in annual grants to several hundred external entities.
- Represented electric utility trade organization in legislative efforts to advance the organization’s legislative interests and defend against hostile legislation.
- Served as regulatory counsel for large independent national gas operator for all environmental, economic, health, and safety regulatory matters in Texas and Louisiana.
- Led international effort to expand human rights in a Southeast Asian nation, including development of an international coalition of NGOs and activists, advocacy with the U.S. government, and advocacy before the U.N. Human Rights Council in Geneva.

On his first day in office, President Trump signed an historic number of executive orders, many of which were focused on energy policy issues. These orders provided a clear signal of President Trump’s policies and policy directives to federal agencies over the coming months. The two most consequential energy-related executive orders were an order titled “Declaring a National Energy Emergency” and an order titled “Unleashing American Energy”.

EPA Advances Major Regulations on Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS)

Due to the emerging issues and heightened public attention around PFAS, EPA in 2021 announced a whole-of-government strategic roadmap on addressing PFAS. The roadmap lays out a three-pronged approach: adding new restrictions on air and water emissions of PFAS and new regulations for PFAS disposal; expanding remediation and cleanup of existing PFAS contamination; and funding PFAS research to better understand these compounds and their impact on health and the environment.
