Jackson Walker partner Michael Kuhn represented Brookfield Properties in finalizing a lease agreement with Houston-based NRG Energy. This agreement will facilitate the relocation of their headquarters to the newly redeveloped 3 Houston Center by January 2026.
Located at 1301 McKinney Street in Downtown Houston, NRG is set to occupy approximately 245,000 square feet spanning the upper 10 floors of 3 Houston Center, a 1.2 million-square-foot, 51-story building. Notably, this lease agreement is one of the largest office lease transactions of the third quarter within the Houston region.
âBrookfield Properties is thrilled to welcome NRG Energy to the newly reimagined 3 Houston Center,â Travis Overall, executive vice president and head of the Texas region for Brookfield Properties, said in a statement. âWe are already receiving positive feedback to the new experience created at the Houston Center campus and are confident that NRG’s decision to place their headquarters at 3 Houston Center underscores the important investments weâve made in the campus and the value it brings to top companies. We look forward to the start of a long relationship with NRG.â
The successful completion of Brookfield Properties’ multiphase renovation of Houston Center campus, a sprawling 4.2 million-square-foot campus spanning 9.2 acres downtown, was recently completed during the spring. This strategic move by NRG is driven by their commitment to enhancing amenities for their diverse workforce and their dedication to the continued development of Houston.
