Biography
Brit Nelson has been practicing Intellectual Property law across a broad spectrum of transactional and litigation matters for nearly 30 years. Prior to his legal career, he amassed 10 years of hands on, practical industrial experience as a mechanical engineer in design and manufacturing in aerospace and oil field applications, and is a licensed professional engineer. He transitioned to law school while supporting a family and began practicing intellectual property in 1992.
Brit has served as counsel to clients in matters involving: preparing and handling thousands of patent, trademark, and copyright prosecution files domestically and internationally through foreign counsel; patent, trademark, and copyright licensing; trademark, trade secret, unfair competition, and patent litigation; intellectual property audits; conducting due diligence with teams of corporate and merger attorneys; domain name disputes; trademark and patent noninfringement and invalidity opinions; freedom to operate product and process clearance opinions; design around analyses; and negotiations of agreements affecting IP rights.
Brit has handled patents for a variety of technologies as well. Examples include medical devices (cannulas, pumps, ureteral stents, esophageal stents, orthopedic devices), spectroscopy, magnetic resonance imaging markers, training tools for physically challenged persons, photocatalytic gas filtering systems, onshore chemical processing plants, offshore floating platforms, solar energy applications, oil field equipment, new forms of propulsion, green energy, solar and wind turbines, software, jet engine monitoring systems, foods, process flow sensors, on-body movement detectors determined by antenna reflection coefficients, and ENZ energy absorbers.
