Biography
Litigation is a game of risk. With nearly two decades of experience handling business-critical disputes, Chevazz understands that the law and facts are only the starting point. Achieving the right outcome demands sound judgment, strategic vision, and the resolve to execute.
Chevazz represents clients across commercial real estate, energy and oilfield services, construction, financial services, technology, hospitality, and healthcare in disputes involving breach of contract, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, trade secret misappropriation, construction liens and prompt-payment claims, insurance coverage, partnership and shareholder disputes, tortious interference, DTPA claims, CERCLA contribution, and employment matters.
He has taken cases from the first sign of trouble through all phases of the litigation process. Chevazz knows which lever to pull at each stage — and, as important, when to hold back. He is creative, gritty, and adaptable with exceptional instincts.
Before joining Jackson Walker, Chevazz clerked for the Hon. Kenneth M. Hoyt of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, where he gained an early, personal look at how judges think and how courthouses work.

- Prompted favorable settlement on behalf of defendant energy client with innovative strategy in breach of contract claim involving accidental shut down of client’s natural gas processing plant where liability was clear.
- Won ~$3M arbitration award (including attorney fees) after five years of litigation against foreign energy defendant who refused to honor client’s maintenance agreement for power generator engines.
- Successfully defended pipe supplier against multi-million-dollar breach of contract claim and obtained $1.5M judgment on counterclaim for unpaid commission.

- Filed and prosecuted multiple petitions for writ of mandamus in the Texas Courts of Appeals, including successfully challenging void trial court orders and securing emergency relief.
- Obtained emergency injunctive relief — including TROs and temporary injunctions — to prevent unauthorized property sales and protect clients’ real property interests in joint venture and ownership disputes.
- Represented food-services company in trade secret misappropriation and breach of fiduciary duty action against former employees, including obtaining mandamus relief.
- Produced favorable result for majority owner in shareholder derivative lawsuit by developing viable defense strategy and devising creative settlement terms.
- Part of trial team that obtained favorable outcomes for major homebuilder client facing $10M+ in two significant FLSA collective actions for unpaid overtime.
- Obtained favorable jury verdict for major real estate title company in personal injury action where Plaintiff sought $1M.
- Successfully defended public college client against defamation claim and was one of the first to obtain early dismissal and an award of attorney’s fees under the Texas Citizens Participation Act (the Texas “Anti-SLAPP” statute).
- Prosecuted and defended multi-million-dollar construction disputes involving lien foreclosure, prompt-payment claims, and quantum meruit.
