Jackson Walker Advises Grupo Cuprum in $280 Million Syndicated Loan

Jackson Walker represented Grupo Cuprum, S.A.P.I. de C.V. (“Grupo Cuprum”), the largest aluminum extruder in Latin America, in the closure of a new $280 million syndicated loan. BBVA México acted as Sole Lead Arranger and Bookrunner for the transaction.

Based in Monterrey, Mexico, Grupo Cuprum has 75 years of experience in the manufacture, sale, and distribution of aluminum. The loan will be used to fund capital expenses for a new plant in Grupo Cuprum’s Automotive Division.

Meet Our Team

Carlos R. Treviño focuses his practice on domestic and cross-border transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and general corporate matters. Prior to Jackson Walker, Carlos served as senior in-house counsel for a large multinational company based in Monterrey, Mexico. While at this company, he acted as lead counsel in mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures in Latin America, and also negotiated domestic and international contracts. Carlos also previously practiced at a large law firm based in Mexico City.

James M. “Jimmy” McDonough is board certified in Commercial Real Estate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Jimmy counsels clients on a broad range of projects involving corporate finance, commercial real estate and mortgage lending, including traditional bank commercial loans, publicly and privately placed debt offerings and syndicated commercial loans; municipal bond transactions; and securitization of financial assets.

Arturo Cavazos is a finance and corporate attorney focused on complex financial transactions and other business matters. His transactional experience includes corporate finance, entity formation and governance, mergers and acquisitions, financial derivatives, securities transactions, and general contracting. Art has been recognized as a “One to Watch” in the areas of Banking and Finance Law and Corporate Law by Best Lawyers and “The Next Generation” in the areas of Corporate and Finance by Lawdragon 500 X in their 2023 editions. He has also been named to San Antonio Magazine’s lists of the “Best S.A. Lawyers” and “Rising Star Lawyers” since 2018.
