May 15, 2018 | Insights

Jackson Walker attorneys Retta A. Miller and Devanshi Somaya co-authored the “USA – Texas” chapter of The International Comparative Legal Guide to: Litigation & Dispute Resolution 2018. Published by Global Legal Group, the International Comparative Legal Guides series reviews and compares laws in 46 practice areas across 140 jurisdictions. Every year, the Litigation & Dispute Resolution section of the guide addresses common issues in litigation and dispute resolution laws and regulations across 41 jurisdictions worldwide.

Organized in a Q&A format, Retta and Devanshi’s chapter focuses on preliminary civil procedure issues to be considered, the commencement of proceedings and defense of claims, understanding the duties and powers of the courts, and the handling of various civil procedure matters such as joinder, consolidation, evidence requirements, judgments, and settlements. The chapter also answers general questions on topics in alternative dispute resolution, including methods, limitations, and ADR institutions.
