Finance & Banking

At Jackson Walker, we have decades of deal-based experience in the commercial and real estate lending markets that enables us to handle even the most complex transactions from start to finish in a manner that emphasizes efficiency and adds value for our clients.

We have extensive experience representing both lenders and borrowers in a variety of loan transactions. Our team approach draws on the experience of attorneys in several practice areas to provide comprehensive services while creating efficiencies for our clients. We regularly represent banks, credit unions, and other financial institutions, as well as nonbank lenders such as public and private companies and insurers. We also represent borrowers, and that gives us unique insight into what types of deals work in today’s competitive market.

Our structure gives us the flexibility to handle a broad range of transactions, tailoring our services to meet each client’s specific needs. We structure and document everything from straightforward term loans and revolving lines of credit to complex credit facilities for multimillion-dollar real estate portfolios. Regardless of the scope of the project, we are committed to protecting our clients’ best interests by providing the highest quality of legal representation without “over-lawyering” the transaction.

Members of Jackson Walker’s core Finance team have weathered two significant downturns in the commercial finance market and have substantial experience in loan modification, debt restructuring, workouts and foreclosures. At all points during the economic cycle, we are well poised to help our clients seize opportunities for growth and achieve their specific business objectives.

Real Estate and Construction Finance

At Jackson Walker, our depth of experience in real estate and construction finance gives clients an edge in a challenging marketplace. We represent both lenders and borrowers in a wide range of financing transactions across the United States. Our deal-based knowledge and team approach enable us to develop innovative solutions that achieve our clients’ specific goals effectively.

We represent the full spectrum of lenders, from large, multinational financial institutions to regional banks, credit unions, hedge funds and insurance companies in all of their real property lending needs, including construction financing, projects, and permanent mortgage financing. We are particularly skilled in bringing value and efficiency to very large real-estate transactions.

Commercial Finance

At Jackson Walker, we view commercial finance as a partnership. Our Finance attorneys combine decades of transactional experience with the flexibility to create solutions tailored to each client’s individual needs in the most effective and efficient manner possible. That means providing exactly the level of service they need – no more, and no less.

Our lending clients include large, multinational financial institutions, regional banks, credit unions, and niche lenders, as well as a variety of nonbank lenders, including public and private companies, funds and insurance firms. We also represent borrowers seeking commercial loans. Our experience on both sides of the lending equation enables us to understand what works in today’s marketplace and provide a significant advantage to our clients.
